Jesus Fraternity

The prison ministry of the church is indeed a radical response to Christ's vision and massif Imitating the example of the Master, the Fraternity tries to bring good news to the poor, down-trodden and to those who are denied their freedom and liberty in their own way.

Mangalapuzha Seminary is blessed with a strong and effective unit of Jesus Fratokv consisting 75 active and committed brothers from both philosophy and theology section under the leadership of Rev Fr Paul Mundolikal. The activities of the Mangalapuzha fraternity unit are as follows:

Spiritual preparations

A fasting prayer is arranged every Friday where the desire and decision to be with the under privileged are renewed. There is also a Eucharistic celebration conducted for the members of the fraternity. In addition to this a monthly sharing by different people who have devoted their life for such ventures is arranged in the seminary, which gives special impetus for the ministry

Sunday Visits

Two brothers along with the zonal team visit Aluva sub jail every Sunday and participate in the Holy Qurbana with the inmates and some others visit the Divine Aids Home at Munngoet There we experience the effects of the words of hope and prayerful support in the happless miserable hearts. Snehashram Visit is yet another ministry on Sundays where the underprivileged children get instructed in Morals and models through songs and stories are highly effective. The brothers fill the Saturday afternoons of Snehaiuvas Snehashramam with friendly words and deeds.

Kolbey Day Jail Pilgrimage

St Maximilian kolbey is the inspiration and patron of the Prison Ministry. A pilgrimage to different jails by the I- Year Theology and members from the Philosophy section is arranged every year which will carry a message and deliver it effectively through different programmes.

Zonal Jail Visit

The members usually start their holidays with Jail pilgrimages. Zonal visits are arranged during the first semester holidays to different jails in the zone. Along with it Costal Village Visits are also arranged. This is a novel experience of being with the fishermen families of valiyathura costal area. About 300 families of fishermen are visited during this time. A compassionate search for the needy, the neighbour, the marginalized, and a sacrificing life for them are found in the ministry of Jesus Fraternity. We realize the ministry as one of love and service that demands to be more faithful to Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd.
